About Built to Fit Desks

Mission Statement

Built to Fit Desks helps you choose once and use for years. We combine fit calculators, standardized stability and noise tests, and long‑term serviceability scoring so every recommendation matches real bodies, real spaces, and real budgets.

Our Brand Story

The standing desk market is loud on features but quiet on fit and longevity. Many of us on the team are remote professionals—some tall, some short, some sharing a desk at home—who got tired of wobbly frames, misleading weight claims, and parts that can’t be replaced. We built a simple promise around two ideas: built‑to‑fit and built‑to‑last.

We measure what matters at working heights, not marketing heights. We publish the minimum/maximum usable heights for different body sizes, test wobble and noise under load, and grade every desk on repairability and total cost of ownership. Our aim is to make non‑average bodies, multi‑user households, and small workspaces first‑class citizens in the buying process.

How We Help

  • Fit, not guesswork: Height‑range calculators grounded in anthropometric data, with guidance for single or shared desks and for treadmill/bike setups.
  • Real‑world stability: Lateral and front‑back wobble tests at seated, mid‑stand, and tall working heights, plus noise and speed measurements with a realistic payload.
  • Longevity by design: Repairability scoring, parts availability checks, and upgrade/compatibility notes so you know how a desk can evolve with you.

Our Team

  • The Engineer: Designs our test rigs, measures stability, speed, and noise, and documents serviceability (fasteners, controllers, spares).
  • The Ergonomist: Translates anthropometrics into practical guidance, validates our fit calculator, and reviews setup/comfort content.
  • The Research Lead: Audits warranties, parts lists, and firmware notes; tracks long‑term reliability and updates.
  • The Editor: Ensures clarity, sources are cited, and every recommendation states trade‑offs plainly.

You’ll see these personas credited on reviews and guides. We also consult with outside specialists (electricians, facilities managers) when needed and note those contributions.

What We Believe

  • Transparency beats hype. We show our methods and publish test ranges, not just single numbers.
  • Serviceable > disposable. A good desk is modular, repairable, and worth maintaining.
  • Data should be useful. Our guides end with clear actions: what to buy by height, space, and workload—and what to avoid.
